[0:06:56] And D-Day is almost here. It's actually next Tuesday. It's less than or it's a week away. [0:07:03] A week away. And by the way, early voting is on. [0:07:06] If you live here in North Idaho or South Idaho or wherever, there is early voting. [0:07:11] And I usually early vote. I actually went today and I early voted. [0:07:15] It took about five minutes. I was in and out. It's actually like really easy to go vote. [0:07:20] It's super simple. [0:07:21] And so there's my ballot. [0:07:23] We'll go over some of the people that I voted for and why I didn't vote for some of these people. [0:07:27] But the big thing is that there's this. [0:07:32] The biggest part of the election right now, which is the primary election, I would just like to argue a couple of things here. [0:07:39] Number one being that these primary elections are more important than the November elections. [0:07:44] Number one. [0:07:45] Number two, local elections are more important than federal elections. [0:07:49] And number three, no, it is not the most important election of our lifetime. [0:07:55] It's never going to be. [0:07:58] It's a trick. [0:07:59] It's always a trick. [0:08:00] Okay. [0:08:01] But that being said, you can't get apathetic. [0:08:04] You do have to vote. [0:08:05] And especially you have to vote local. [0:08:07] And one of the biggest things on the ballot this go around has been the role of precinct [0:08:12] committeemen. [0:08:13] I've been talking about this on the show basically since it began. [0:08:16] But, you know, the way the Republican Party is put together is at a county level, right? [0:08:25] There's county representatives all across the country. [0:08:30] Each county is made up of precincts. [0:08:32] You live in a precinct. [0:08:33] Wherever you are, you are in a precinct, believe it or not. [0:08:37] Okay? [0:08:37] And there is supposed to be a person that you elect or vote for or put into office [0:08:42] that is supposed to bring your opinion to the Republican Party so that policy can be enacted [0:08:51] and resolutions and blah, blah, blah, right? But so the whole direction of the party is chosen by [0:08:58] these precinct committee candidates. Now, in Idaho, specifically in North Idaho, where I live, [0:09:05] this has become an incredibly contentious race, almost more contentious than the race for governor [0:09:12] than the race for lieutenant governor, even Senate. [0:09:17] It's kind of like a foregone conclusion. [0:09:20] We're going to get Jim Risch and Russ Fulcher. [0:09:23] They're going to be our elected representatives, so why bother? [0:09:26] And instead, everybody piles into these precinct races, [0:09:30] and it's been absolutely wild [0:09:33] because there are multiple factions here in North Idaho. [0:09:38] I think we've talked about this a little bit. [0:09:40] Hold on. [0:09:42] Yeah. My wife is texting me. Yeah. Thank you, honey. I will talk about Casey Putsch's campaign. [0:09:52] Where was I? Okay. Precinct committee races, right? So there are, I want to say like three [0:10:02] main factions here in North Idaho. There's a group of very liberty minded people that got involved [0:10:09] around the time of the Tea Party. They love freedom. They don't like cancel culture. [0:10:15] They're grassroots, anti-corporate. When you look at the party platform that this particular group [0:10:21] of people, because they've been in power in the Republican Party here since about 2020 or 2022, [0:10:27] when Dorothy Moon became the chairwoman of the Idaho Republican Party anyway, [0:10:31] you know, there was a big sea change. It was taking the party back from the rhinos [0:10:35] and the Freedom Liberty people got elected and did that. Well, now ganging up against them [0:10:43] are two groups, Christian Zionists, most notably the people at Candlelight Christian Fellowship, [0:10:49] and a group called North Idaho Republicans or NIR. This is a group, the North Idaho Republicans [0:10:57] are a group led by former Democrats, the daughter of the FBI agent involved in Ruby Ridge. [0:11:04] It's a whole host of like the worst people ever, pro-gay, pro-abortion. [0:11:10] And this NIR group has teamed up together with the Christian Zionist group to oust the liberty-minded people that have been in control of the party for the past couple of years. [0:11:22] I hope I'm explaining all of this well. [0:11:25] If not, please, in the chat, you can tell me. [0:11:31] I actually have the chat up on the screen today. [0:11:33] I'm kind of keeping an eye. So that's kind of like the layout, right? And so there have been [0:11:41] some interesting things that have gone on, right? One of them being this guy, Paul Van Noy, who we've [0:11:47] talked about on this show so many times, done entire episodes devoted to him and the sex scandals [0:11:54] at his church and these undercover recordings that came to light about what was going on between him [0:12:01] and his daughter and his neighbor, I guess. [0:12:04] It's all very sordid stuff. [0:12:06] You can get to it, of course, [0:12:07] if you go through the back catalog here on the Backlash. [0:12:11] Specifically, if you search some of those Dave After Dark episodes, [0:12:16] I kind of got into this stuff. [0:12:18] And so it's been interesting because... Anyway, I don't go on Facebook that often. My apologies. Okay, [0:12:52] so here's the thing. This guy, Pastor Paul Van Noy, he put out this list, right? He's trying [0:12:59] to take out a guy named Brent Regan, the current chairman of the GOP. These liberty-minded people, [0:13:04] they're trying to take them out. Why? Because the liberty-minded faction that has been in control [0:13:10] of the Idaho GOP since 2022 is staunchly anti-war. They are anti-property taxes. They [0:13:19] want decentralization, localization, things like calling for Lon Harucci, the FBI sniper, [0:13:26] to be prosecuted and, you know, put to death by the firing squad, right? That's the kind of shit [0:13:33] that the people involved with the GOP right now are trying to do. Pretty based, pretty red-pilled. [0:13:39] I like them. They're good people, you know, genuine family people that are just trying to [0:13:43] make the region better. And so this backlash against the liberty-minded people from the [0:13:52] Zionists. Remember, they're the ones that started this whole back and forth. They're the ones that, [0:13:57] you know, came out trying to unseat Brent in 22 and 24, and now here it is, 2026. They still haven't [0:14:04] been able to get rid of him. But anyway, Paul Vannoy now put out his own list of precinct [0:14:12] committee picks, right? Here's the list. This is what it looked like. They printed this out and [0:14:17] handed this out, I'm assuming, at their church. It says paid for by Paul Van Noy there at the bottom. [0:14:23] And in it, it has recommendations for all 73 precincts here in North Idaho. All of the people [0:14:31] generally recommended on this list are Zionists or, you know, NIR, North Idaho Republicans. [0:14:41] So Democrats in disguise that are for like the rule of law. [0:14:47] And I'm thinking of people here like Joshua Dahlstrom, Mark Stewart, Todd Tondy. [0:14:52] Those guys are NIR. OK, then you've got people over here like Stephanie Fetzer, right? [0:14:59] Massive Zionist. You know, there's there's a whole bunch on here anyway. [0:15:05] So Paul, Paul puts this list out, right? [0:15:08] he puts this list out vote for these people these are the christian conservatives that'll [0:15:15] stand up to the extremists in the republican party because that's the number one problem [0:15:20] in idaho is extremists in idaho and and extremists getting involved in the party we've got to [0:15:27] prevent them from taking over and installing a monarchy right that's like literally what these [0:15:33] people think? Well, come to find out, come to find out that three of the people that this pastor [0:15:42] endorsed on his list, Pastor Paul's picks, three of them signed the petition for abortion in Idaho. [0:15:51] Okay, this just came out. This is like a big hubbub over the past couple of days here, [0:15:56] especially in local scenes. Pastor says, you know, update, Pastor Paul has pulled his endorsements, [0:16:05] but it's like, you know, rut row, I guess maybe the good pastor should have vetted his picks a [0:16:10] little bit better. Interesting, isn't it? You had these three, Will Havercroft, Annette Nolting, [0:16:16] and of course, Dan Gookin, our illustrious mayor of Coeur d'Alene, who Paul endorsed before the [0:16:24] the last go around in November when Dan Gookin became our mayor, right? So this is who they [0:16:34] endorse. This is who the Christian Zionists are endorsing. They're endorsing abortionists, [0:16:38] right? That's who they are endorsing. That's who they're in bed with. They're in bed with people [0:16:42] that like Dan Gookin, who voted for gay marriage in 2014 and forced the hitching post in Coeur d'Alene [0:16:50] to shut down, right? This was like a big wedding chapel, destination wedding in downtown Coeur d'Alene. [0:16:56] Well, they had to shut their doors because they wouldn't do gay marriages. And Dan Gookin voted [0:17:00] for that. And here, a decade later, Paul Van Noy, Christian pastor at the biggest Zionist evangelical [0:17:08] mega church in the area, he endorses him. So there you go. Now you got egg on your face, bud. [0:17:14] And so he had to rescind his endorsements. Here's his little recension. Is that the right word here? Come on. See, having just discovered that three previously recommended precinct committee candidates signed the abortion initiative, a position that conflicts with my standards, the core principles of the Christian faith in the Idaho Republican Party, I am withdrawing my recommendations from said candidates. [0:17:41] now when it comes to bombing little children in Iran Paul Van Noy has got no issues with that [0:17:49] when it comes to blowing up unborn babies in Gaza Paul Van Noy has no issues with that whatsoever [0:17:56] so I don't really understand what the issue is here that he would have to rescind his endorsements [0:18:03] of Dan Gookin because Paul Van Noy is like as pro-death as you get here's a guy going around [0:18:11] and we've played it to death on the show before. I'm not going to do it again. I've done it like [0:18:17] six times. Go back and find one of the old episodes about Candlelight Christian Church, [0:18:21] and you'll find the video. Paul Van Noyt saying, I don't give a damn about blowing up your babies [0:18:27] and your women and children. Give us the hostages back. Speaking about the issue in Israel and Gaza, [0:18:34] right so totally disingenuous totally disingenuous guy and he only rescinded these [0:18:42] pics after like a massive massive amount of pressure was brought to bear on him and of course [0:18:49] you know the same amount of pressure was brought on that whole church after uh the tape recordings [0:18:56] leaked about him and his i guess his daughter getting molested by a neighbor and then he helped [0:19:02] cover it up or something. I don't know. Don't sue me. I don't know the whole story there, but man, [0:19:09] it's just, it's just amazing to see how this is playing out. If you go back and watch the episode about the [0:21:05] Southern Poverty Law Center, this one is the woman who was deeply involved with the Southern [0:21:11] Poverty Law Center in North Idaho, the Battle of the Aryan Nations or whatever. But she put out [0:21:16] this op-ed today talking about how difficult it is. Oh, it's lonely at the top. It's lonely at [0:21:23] the top. And basically the whole point of this article is to talk about how some mayors, you know, [0:21:31] some mayors come in and have strong personalities. Some mayors are quiet and unengaged. Other mayors [0:21:38] fire everyone, you know, blah, blah, blah, back and forth. So some mayors were very effective and [0:21:44] some were ineffective. We've had mayors that work closely with city council and others that refuse [0:21:49] to engage out of sheer frustration. Mayor Gookin is no different in his role than those that came [0:21:55] before him. He's finding his way. He has high expectations for staff and is attempting to work [0:22:02] with council and the citizens while putting in full days. For those that forget their own [0:22:09] frustrations with staff and consider him the devil while they remain saintly, I chuckle and I tell [0:22:17] them that I'm not buying it. Okay. So like long story short, the people in the city of Coeur d'Alene [0:22:24] now think that Dan Gookin is literally the devil. That's what, that's what Christie Wood said. Outspoken bitch. Okay. She stole money. She stole money from [0:24:42] J.C. Penney and her FBI agent dad covered it up. Okay. And she's taking money from the Idaho dairy [0:24:49] pack, among other things. She also said that she, quote, thinks Kamala Harris is one of the most [0:24:57] qualified vice presidential candidates in the country that they've ever seen. [0:25:02] These people. So she's one of the leaders of this North Idaho Republican group. You got [0:25:09] Duncan Bell, who is pro-abortion. Oh my God, look at this. Look at the glasses. Problem glasses. [0:26:44] it's the daughter of the founder of NIR [0:26:47] and on and on it goes [0:26:49] but anyway if you go to this website [0:26:51] Kootenai Freedom Caucus [0:26:51] you can find out more about the good people [0:26:53] running for precinct candidates [0:26:57] anyway [0:26:59] so there's all of that [0:27:00] and it's just you know [0:27:02] like you've got to pay attention [0:27:04] and it's not a matter of it being [0:27:06] the most important election [0:27:07] it's not a matter of it being [0:27:08] in two weeks the world is going to end [0:27:10] it's a matter of like [0:27:11] if we don't pay attention to this stuff [0:27:14] then in 10 years in 20 years stuff is going to suck exponentially worse than it already does [0:27:21] and things suck right now right so you got to think long term here and just you know it's just [0:27:30] my opinion that not voting and keeping your head in the sand you know running up on the mountain [0:27:37] and ignoring everything else that's going on is just not helpful it's not helpful doesn't mean [0:27:42] that you need to make politics your whole personality at all. Far from it. But you do [0:27:49] need to get wise. And one of the other things, one of the other issues here about getting wise, [0:27:55] and I'm going to maybe try to teach you a little something, is sign placement, right? I think Mark Fitzpatrick [0:53:02] will probably get 20 to 25 percent of the vote, might be on the lower side, might be 15, 15 to [0:53:08] 25 percent of the vote, I think Mark Fitzpatrick will get, and that'll be good. But yeah, it's [0:53:15] going to be interesting to see. And it's just so amazing. You know, like if you're going to run for [0:53:19] office, you know, whether it's Casey Putsch or Jim Fishback or Dan Bilzerian or whatever, like [0:53:25] it's about you as a candidate. You are the one that's trying to be like a leader here. [0:53:31] And so like when you don't win, blaming a podcaster, blaming some guy for not supporting you, [0:53:37] that's just like not a good look you know because you could run for office and lose [0:53:45] and take it gracefully and then now that you know how the game is run now that you've ran a campaign [0:53:52] you can do it again in four years if you don't make an ass out of yourself [0:53:58] you know tweeting from a hospital bed the day after you lose that's not going to happen casey [0:54:03] Putsch is finished as far as any kind of aspirations for leadership in Idaho or Ohio goes. [0:54:30] don't start by running your campaign get a friend of yours to run and then help him run his campaign [0:54:36] so you can figure out how to do it and then when it comes time for you to run you know how to file [0:54:43] the forms you know how to keep track of all the donations you know who to order your signs and [0:54:49] your t-shirts from that takes a lot of work takes a lot of work you could always hire me i'll do it [0:54:55] for you. So like you show up to the same election place that you normally would, [0:55:25] you cast your ballot and you go home. They cast the largest possible net over the populace. And, you know, [0:55:51] just going to put it out there, there's times when I think that maybe casting the largest possible net [0:55:56] ain't the right way to go. Because then you get a bunch of low information voters that are easily [0:56:02] tricked by people like Krista Hazel and the NIR and all of them. So I think we should switch to [0:56:08] a caucus-based system, a system where you actually have to show up the day of, something that's [0:56:15] organized in your neighborhood, where you can see what the candidates are about. Maybe they have [0:56:21] some sort of video presentation, and then you cast your vote there. You watch them as they [0:56:27] count it all up at the precinct level, and then they transmit the results up. I think that would [0:56:33] be a much better system than what we currently have. And I think we could get it done, especially [0:56:38] here in Idaho. I know Utah, Utah used to have a caucus system and it was pretty good. I mean, [0:56:42] it was a great way of getting candidates that they might not be as well funded. They might not be as [0:56:50] well organized. But the fact that you get five or 10 minutes to address every precinct right before [0:56:57] they vote, you know, I think it could be a little bit better than than what we're currently doing. [0:57:03] So keep your eyes out there. I would like to see somebody pick up the mantle for this thing, take the crown out of the gutter. But we need a caucus-based system. You can't trick it, you can't fool it the same way that you can with the mail-in, with the absentee voting. [0:57:22] so we'll see um someone said i'll take patrick bateman at this point true uh yeah yeah the last [0:57:34] minute campaigns definitely don't work silent vector totally right people who don't vote should [0:57:38] not be allowed should not be allowed for running for public office that's true too yeah you know [0:57:44] i feel like voting like it should almost come with like a uh like like an iq test or something [0:57:49] Like you have to you have to be able to read the cat in the hat to vote.
