Episode 156 — Two Nightmares, One Weekend: Idaho Mass Shooting & Spokane Inferno

Show notes

A nightmare weekend struck the Inland Northwest.

In Twin Falls, a gunman opened fire at a newly opened In-N-Out Burger, killing three people and wounding seven others. An off-duty Idaho State Police trooper and an armed citizen intervened—actions authorities believe may have prevented even more bloodshed. The attacker later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, while investigators continue searching for a motive.

Meanwhile, three wind-driven wildfires tore through the Spokane area, destroying hundreds of homes and businesses and forcing tens of thousands of residents to evacuate. Entire neighborhoods have been reduced to ash in what local officials are calling the worst natural disaster the region has ever faced.

On Episode 156 of The Backlash, we examine what is known about the Twin Falls shooting, the heroic response that interrupted the attack, the devastation unfolding around Spokane, and the unanswered questions surrounding two catastrophes that struck our region in a single weekend.

Our prayers are with the victims, their families, the displaced, and the first responders confronting these disasters.
