[0:07:05] Okay, so this book was written first in 1967 by this guy, Jean Husset, [0:07:11] who was a key, a counter-revolutionary type fella. [0:07:16] He formed a group called Le City Catholique, [0:07:18] which was like this kind of initiative to create a whole Catholic city [0:07:24] built on the Catholic social teaching, the Catholic social order. [0:07:28] And basically this book is a blueprint. [0:07:32] It is a manual for the reconstruction of Christendom, [0:07:37] which is what it says, of course, right there on the front. [0:07:39] If you haven't read this book, you absolutely need to. [0:07:44] I've been recommending this book to people for well over a decade now. [0:07:49] And so it seems fitting that I should give a copy of this away. [0:07:54] Um, because the stuff in here is timeless. [0:07:58] It is invaluable. [0:08:00] Uh, let me read, uh, the little blurb or whatever we have on the website. [0:08:04] Action is Jean Husset's manual for Catholics who intend to do more than just complain about [0:08:10] the wreck of Christian civilization. [0:08:13] He's a French scholar on the revolution and the founder of Le City Catholique. [0:08:18] Husset wrote a practical book, how the laity should work with the clergy. [0:08:23] how to form and use an elite of committed men [0:08:28] when it is not only lawful but necessary [0:08:30] to collaborate with non-Catholics of goodwill [0:08:33] and how doctrine, organization, and personal example [0:08:37] must be ordered towards one end, [0:08:39] the reconstruction of Christendom in the temporal order. [0:08:42] It was first published in 1974 [0:08:44] and issued in this edition by IHS Press. [0:08:47] It remains one of the clearest guides in English [0:08:50] for anyone ready to take that duty seriously. [0:08:54] So go on the website. [0:09:16] And actually, I remember giving a copy of this [0:09:19] to someone you may have heard of before, Martin Selner. [0:09:24] I gave him a copy of this book about, oh, geez, eight years ago, nine years ago. [0:09:31] And at the time, Martin really wasn't that upfront about being a Catholic with his activism. [0:09:39] You know, he does Generation Identity over in Europe. [0:09:44] Well, that's been totally obliterated now. [0:09:47] You know, they basically made that entire group illegal. [0:09:52] But, you know, he's on the forefront of this re-migration thing, trying to re-Christianize Europe, kick out the Muslims and all of this type of stuff. [0:10:00] But anyway, I gave him a copy of this book. [0:10:01] And a couple of years after that, he started to be very open about the fact that he is a Catholic and a traditional Catholic at that. [0:10:08] So I hope that maybe this had some impact on him. [0:10:12] It will definitely have an impact on you. [0:10:13] The TLDR with this book Action by Jean Husset is basically we need a thousand men. [0:10:23] A thousand men. [0:10:25] And that's all that it's going to take to really do this, to reconquer the world for Jesus Christ, [0:10:32] to make Christ the king of America, of Europe again, of the whole world. [0:10:38] 1,000 well-placed elite men, and it is up to us to find those men. That's what we are doing. That [0:10:48] is what we are going to do here. We are eventually going to be networking and finding the 1,000 key [0:10:55] people that it is going to take, and we will be able to do this. Dude, I am so white-pilled [0:11:01] from this weekend, and so we're going to get into it. Of course, the Catholic land movement [0:11:07] had their, I believe it was their fifth, their fifth national conference. And so, [0:11:18] this is from their Twitter account. We'll share some of these pictures with you guys. There were [0:11:25] all kinds of like skill workshops. This one was milling your own wood. [0:11:30] there was a little kid there he was like 15 or 16 years old into blacksmithing teaching people [0:11:40] how to do you know blacksmithing this was a cider how to make your own apple cider event that was [0:11:46] going on there you know and the kids love this stuff too the kids love this stuff uh this was a [0:11:54] little workshop. There's a group called Varex Patria that has purchased some acreage in West [0:12:01] Virginia, a 350 acre land project. And they are going to be building things like a, like a model [0:12:11] demonstration farm where they'll be able to teach people how to homestead, how to take care of [0:12:16] animals and live off the land, stuff like that. So that's of course, very, very exciting. [0:12:22] there was a [0:12:26] you know all kinds of classes [0:12:28] this is on [0:12:30] Catholic social teaching [0:12:31] what else do we have [0:12:34] cider [0:12:35] Jason Craig [0:12:39] gave a workshop on dairy cows [0:12:42] which was very fascinating [0:12:44] and by the way we're going to have [0:12:46] Jason on the show [0:12:47] I've got a new reading list [0:12:50] as well that I'll be sharing with you [0:12:51] There was a domestic productivity workshop, okay? [0:12:58] So for the women, how to take care of the home and how to homestead and sew and how to have sourdough. [0:13:07] Very wholesome. [0:13:09] Very, very wholesome. [0:13:11] There were a bunch of vendors there, of course, too. [0:13:13] people with seeds and grain, powdered mushrooms. [0:13:23] I don't know. [0:13:24] But they had all kinds of vendors, which was incredible to see. [0:13:30] And so, yeah, I mean, it was just unbelievable. [0:13:33] And then, of course, the bonfires. [0:13:36] Ho, ho, ho, ho, the bonfires. [0:13:38] Um, but yeah, I'm not doing a good job of, uh, of this, but how do I begin? How do I begin? So [0:13:52] I left here, I think it was Thursday last week, you know, and of course this past week, [0:13:58] and, and, you know, I'm being very self-indulgent with this show, uh, today because I've, [0:14:05] I am overworked. I am underslept. Um, and I'm trying to get back into the rhythm of things [0:14:12] here. So I'm going to be a little self-indulgent. I'm going to wander and ramble a little bit. So, [0:14:18] you know, relax, but, um, got on the plane Thursday, flew out to Indiana, picked up a car, [0:14:30] my parents' car actually, because my parents finally made the move to Idaho, [0:14:34] three generations of Riley's now living up here in North Idaho. Thanks be to God for that. [0:14:41] So I picked up my parents' car and then drove from Indianapolis down to Greensburg, Indiana, [0:14:47] which is where the conference was held. And, you know, it was just kind of wild to me. You know, [0:14:54] I had this crazy feeling that I've had every now and again. [0:15:02] I tweeted about it. [0:15:04] I said, you know, every now and again, [0:15:06] I'll get this intense feeling like I am exactly where God wants me to be [0:15:09] and that everything that I've gone through has been a preparation [0:15:12] leading to this particular moment in time and space. [0:15:16] God has a plan for your life, even if you can't see it at the moment. [0:15:19] And of course he does. [0:15:21] And it's difficult, right? [0:15:22] Because it's like, you know, if you've been following all the stuff that I do, you will know that I have been just attacked over and over again, nonstop. [0:15:39] And let me see. [0:15:40] I think it's here. [0:15:43] Yeah. [0:15:43] So, for example, there's this website that has done the excellent work of keeping track of every negative article that has ever been written about me. [0:15:52] Um, and there's a lot of it. You can, you can see all of these articles about, you know, me working [0:16:00] for the Idaho Freedom Foundation and running for school board and, you know, he's an extremist and [0:16:05] blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Okay. All of this getting doxxed and, and, you know, you, you go [0:16:12] through a lot. Like, what, what is this? What is this one? Is this HuffPo? Yeah. Well, whatever. [0:16:21] You see the name calling that they do, but it's all for a purpose. [0:16:25] It's all for a reason. [0:16:26] It's all there to strengthen, I think, you, me, you know, to suffer a little bit. [0:16:36] And you learn certain things along the way. [0:16:39] So anyway, where am I going with this? [0:16:42] I had this intense feeling that there was something up at the Catholic land movement [0:16:45] and that I was right where I was supposed to be. [0:16:48] And it turns out that was true. [0:16:50] Absolutely true. Because where we are in society right now and where we've been directionally headed as a country is not good, right? This is what this show talks about. We talk about this all the time. [0:17:07] We talk about the issues with the economy, the issues with people getting elected to office to do something, and then they not only don't do what they were elected to do, but they do the exact opposite, right? [0:17:22] Remember Donald Trump? [0:17:23] We're going to end the war with Russia on day one. [0:17:26] No new wars. [0:17:27] No more Middle Eastern wars. [0:17:29] Blah, blah, blah. [0:17:30] And the exact opposite is happening. [0:17:33] You know, he said he was going to rebuild the American economy. [0:17:35] and when you look at what's going on, [0:17:38] not only is it not getting rebuilt, [0:17:40] but it's getting much worse. [0:17:41] The inflation expectations are just awful. [0:17:45] I know that Ken Warsh and Scott Besant [0:17:47] just had a big thing over the weekend. [0:17:50] They're going to be apparently hiking interest rates. [0:17:53] The markets are crazy and insane. [0:17:55] And basically all of that, the economy right now, [0:17:59] completely hinges on the AI trade. [0:18:03] It completely, like without AI and these data centers, the entire economy is negative, right? And they've been goosing it. They've been kind of goosing the AI numbers to make the GDP look not as bad, which is a majority like what, like 120, 140% debt to GDP ratio. [0:18:26] it's going to blow up. Okay. So we've established this. We've been talking about this for years. [0:18:35] And that is where the Catholic land movement comes in. Because not only as a kind of reaction [0:18:45] to what we've been seeing in the world and in this country, right? There's an angle of it where [0:18:52] the Catholic land movement, this is a good thing because it'll, it'll protect us if there's like [0:18:57] a supply chain, uh, shock or if the, the dollar collapses or, or if there's a war or whatever, [0:19:04] right? Like there's the kind of like fear porn that gets you into something, but then there's, [0:19:10] it's good in and of itself, just from, uh, just from first principles to be on the land, [0:19:20] to have your family working together, to, you know, have this kind of intimate relationship [0:19:27] with God's creation in the way that human beings have done for thousands of years, which is [0:19:34] totally in conflict with the modern world and Walmart and big, you know, box stores and, you [0:19:43] know, all of the, all of that. So this is difficult. This is so difficult because it's such a big, [0:19:53] a big thing. But basically what I wanted to say is that I saw the future this past weekend [0:20:02] in Indiana, in those fields and with those people. Okay. I saw the future. [0:20:10] and the future is bright and it is exciting and [0:20:19] if you are blackpilling right now if you are feeling hopeless right now if you think all is lost [0:20:27] you're wrong [0:20:29] and the antidote to this is action it is action the book no i'm kidding but taking real action and so [0:20:43] um yeah i probably should have written an outline but [0:20:49] But the Catholic land movement, let me just start here. [0:20:56] Let me say this too. [0:21:00] So there's a lot, you know, you come to the show, [0:21:06] you want to learn a little bit about news, [0:21:09] you want our takes, you want to see the interviews [0:21:11] and all of that type of stuff, I get it. [0:21:13] But my point is, where I'm coming from is, [0:21:16] that there is a solution. [0:21:21] There is a solution for you and your family. [0:21:23] There are actual definite actions that can be taken, okay? [0:21:28] And so this doomerism of the world is going to end in two weeks, [0:21:34] the markets are going to collapse in two weeks, [0:21:36] there's basically nothing you can do, [0:21:37] the Jews are doing X, Y, and Z. [0:21:43] okay, yes, but what are you doing with that information? What are you doing with that [0:21:52] information? Are you building something? Are you taking maneuvers to navigate into a future [0:22:03] that is better? Or are you just kind of like getting angry, looking at all of this agitprop [0:22:10] on X and on YouTube and Instagram, you see what I mean? The agiprop needs to take you to a place [0:22:18] where you make and take certain actions that are fruitful and productive. And, you know, I'm sorry, [0:22:25] joining some weird protest group, like Blood Tribe or some nonsense like that, okay, this is not [0:22:36] helpful. This is not productive. You know, I saw Paul Miller over the weekend, you know, he did a, [0:22:41] he did a boxing match against some Israeli guy and the fans in the crowd were like waving swastika [0:22:48] flags and all of this. And it's just like, dude, get, get me away from all of that. This is all [0:22:53] bizarre, weird stuff that's been happening. And it's like, we need to be normal. We just need to [0:23:00] be normal and do normal things. And so that's where this Catholic land movement goes in. I mean, [0:23:05] I have not really endorsed any groups, you know, Patriot Front, all of these other things. [0:23:15] That ain't it. I mean, if you want to do it, that's fine. That's on you. But the Catholic [0:23:21] Land Movement has my full endorsement. Absolutely. Because it is based on Catholic teaching [0:23:31] that is hundreds of years old. [0:23:36] And it's all good stuff and normal people. [0:23:43] And so if you are out there in internet land, right, [0:23:46] you found this podcast, you've been coming here. [0:23:51] I'm just trying to put it, [0:23:54] I'm just going to delete this episode. [0:23:55] I'm just going to delete the episode. [0:23:57] This sucks. [0:24:01] The solution is in this land movement. [0:24:03] It is in finding these associations. [0:24:06] It is in finding other people that are of like mind [0:24:09] that want the same thing for their family, [0:24:11] which is a good future, right? [0:24:13] And the government isn't going to give that to us. [0:24:15] The Republican Party isn't going to give that to us. [0:24:20] We need to build it. [0:24:22] We need to build our future. [0:24:25] That is what is up to us. [0:24:26] And so it doesn't matter that you don't have five acres. It doesn't matter that you live in an apartment in a city. It doesn't matter if you are broke and you are struggling to make ends meet. [0:24:41] the land movement is in here. [0:24:46] It's inside of you. [0:24:49] It is this internal conversion [0:24:52] of the soul back to [0:24:55] a sane way of life. [0:24:59] If that makes some sense. [0:25:05] You know, [0:25:06] we're going to be doing a series of interviews [0:25:10] that is going to try to help articulate this thing that I'm trying to get at here, [0:25:17] which is that, yes, the world is messed up, and we are atomized, and we are being subjected to [0:25:27] this 24-7 nonstop agitprop, but then you need to find the avenue, the solution, the way out, [0:25:37] the way forward. And that way forward is the, it's, it's the tradition. It is the way of the [0:25:42] past. And the Catholic land movement, I think is going to be the vehicle for that. I mean, it is, [0:25:49] it was just so incredible to, to sit down with these people. And I'd never met any of them before [0:25:57] in my life. And it was like, we had known each other for decades, the same point of view, [0:26:05] the same way of seeing what's going on in the world. And, you know, just unbelievable, you know, [0:26:14] and then, you know, the families that were there, you know, the kids that were there just running [0:26:19] around and, you know, having fun. Let's see. There's this little, we had this bonfire, [0:26:28] you know, everybody getting together, playing music. This is, this is culture. [0:26:35] This is real culture, okay? [0:26:40] You're not going to find that in any other group. [0:26:43] You're not going to find these people coming together with big families, with kids. [0:26:50] They are honest and upstanding and Christian, and they're not weird. [0:27:00] I don't know how to put it, man, but it's just the land movement is it. [0:27:04] That's where it's at. And so anyway, um, anyway, we, uh, did a bunch of work. There was a bunch of, [0:27:16] uh, stuff that was going on. Um, like here's a, uh, the blacksmithing workshop that was going on. [0:27:23] They, they killed a pig. They butchered a pig, which was incredible. Then we ate the pig. [0:27:30] um we went to mass it was beautiful the church of saint philomena [0:27:37] oh yeah look at that just incredible and so i'm doing an absolutely awful job of uh trying to [0:27:46] package this stuff uh you know into a sensible thing how do you you know describe the feeling [0:27:56] You know, the other issue is that I wound up driving from the conference directly to Idaho, which took about 30 hours, 30 hours of nonstop straight through the night driving. [0:28:16] so like you can see here [0:28:18] 26 hours [0:28:22] on the clock [0:28:23] and [0:28:26] you know [0:28:27] I posted some updates as I was going [0:28:30] but eventually [0:28:33] you know eventually [0:28:34] you started to see the signs [0:28:37] and I made it home [0:28:41] but that totally [0:28:45] has me all over the place because you're not supposed to stay up for 30 hours straight driving. [0:28:52] That's crazy. But yeah, so I don't know where I'm going with any of this right now, [0:29:01] but I had some other thoughts in the same vein. And I said, Catholics need to participate [0:29:08] in Republican politics, not to be a cheerleader for the Republican party and the big businesses, [0:29:14] oligarchs, and special interests that have bought it, Catholics need to rebuild the Republican [0:29:19] Party in the image and likeness of Catholic social teaching. Now, how does this, where am I going with [0:29:26] this, right? Because, and I think that this kind of situates it, right? This guy says, no way, [0:29:35] I'm not participating in that satanic theater anymore. I said, fair, opt out, join the Catholic [0:29:41] land movement. He says, I wish I could, maybe someday soon. And this is what I was trying to [0:29:47] get at, where the Catholic land movement does not mean that you have to sell all of your things, [0:29:55] pick up and move to Idaho, or moving to a farm in Virginia or something like that. [0:30:03] The land movement isn't that. It's inside of you. So anyway, if you haven't already, [0:30:14] please go to catholiclandmovement.info, find a chapter near you, okay? Because we are so atomized, [0:30:30] and we are kept from one another, and we are told that, you know, we're alone. [0:30:36] You know, you're sitting there, you're doom scrolling on X on your phone, [0:30:39] and you just feel like you're alone. [0:30:43] You know, and there is so many derivative problems that come from that, [0:30:50] that feeling alone. [0:30:53] and, um, the, the Catholic land movement is like the first thing where, yeah, I do need some more [0:31:03] coffee. Thank you. Jeez, old Pete. I'm anyway. Okay. So new reading list, new reading list. [0:31:09] Okay. Here we go. Uh, oh my God. Oh, I spent all of my money. I spent all of my buddy at the, uh, [0:31:20] at the land movement on books. [0:31:41] First up, first book that you need to read if you haven't already read it. [0:31:47] Flee to the Fields, The Faith and Works of the Catholic Land Movement. Okay? This book, [0:31:57] and most of these books that I'm going to recommend are from IHS Press, and we're going to talk more [0:32:05] about them in a bit. But this book, Flee to the Fields, was first written in 1934. [0:33:01] And in it, [0:33:03] he basically goes through [0:33:05] and [0:33:05] totally [0:33:07] destroys [0:33:09] both [0:33:11] socialism, communism, and capitalism. They're both wrong. Capitalism, which essentially means unrestricted, monopolistic, [0:33:30] the elite keep getting more elite and the poor keep getting poor, right? Like Verizon is never [0:33:39] going to say, you know what, we've got 55% of the telecommunications industry. How about we let the [0:33:45] little guy pick up a little bit of market share? Like, that's not going to happen. It all tends [0:33:52] towards centralization. And so for that reason, capitalism is not good. Also because both [0:34:03] capitalism and communism reduce man to just a basic unit of economic input and output. [0:34:09] You make product, and that's it. [0:34:11] We need you to make more product for cheaper. [0:34:15] That's capitalism. [0:34:18] So we need a return, and, you know, this is part of what we've been talking about with the economy or whatever, [0:34:25] but we need to return to an economy, economics, as if God mattered, okay? [0:34:31] I think that's actually a book or an essay by either Belloc or Chesterton. [0:34:35] um we we work because we like we need to feed our family and [0:34:43] these people that own the factories and that own the walmarts of the world they don't care about [0:34:54] your soul they don't care about uh you feeling fulfilled from your labor they just want you to [0:35:00] work harder for cheaper. It's about how you actually live your day-to-day life, [0:38:47] preserving the tradition of a more kind of like agrarian lifestyle, but it doesn't even have to [0:38:53] be that. It's also just the basic, um, mentality and world outlook that you have, uh, when you [0:39:02] live your life in accordance with Catholic social teaching, the family is the basic building block [0:39:08] of not only society, but also the economy, right? I mean, think about it. Like nowadays, [0:39:12] the man would go off to work goes off to work gone from home all day long the kids hop on a bus [0:39:20] they go to school the woman god knows what she's doing probably like strangling whatever little [0:39:27] children are left in her house um no i'm kidding but you know going off maybe getting her hair done [0:39:33] or something like that then eventually they all kind of reconvene and maybe they have dinner [0:39:37] together maybe they have dinner together and then they're all back off they're scrolling social [0:39:42] media, they're watching television. That's not a good way to live life. That's not healthy. [0:39:50] And I'm sure that most of you aren't like that. But the point is that the land movement is helpful [0:39:58] in helping connect you with other people that live lives that are worth living. [0:40:05] I don't know how to put it, man. [0:40:16] And, uh, Oh, the other thing I was going to say is because it's not about, um, [0:40:24] it's, this is like, not like a group where you are getting together to like argue about the Latin [0:40:29] mass or the SSPX or whatever. This is like, you're, you're getting together with other [0:40:38] people to do real things, to like build a house for somebody or to milk a cow or to get eggs or [0:40:46] to bake bread, sew clothes. You know what I'm saying? It connects you with other people that [0:40:52] are like doing real things. This is not about just sitting around and being intellectual and [0:40:59] reading a book and then, you know, being like, oh, well, that's interesting. You know, it's a group [0:41:06] of people who are taking action to build the future. And so the other big thing to keep in [0:41:16] mind with this is that as the boomers die, as the boomers die, there's like hundreds of millions of [0:41:24] acres of American farmland right now. Where is it going to go? And so the Catholic land movement [0:41:34] has this opportunity, I think, [0:41:38] to help get people onto that land. [0:41:43] You know, could be a total shot in the dark. And so anyway, there's this disconnect between the food that we eat and [0:51:36] the food that actually, you know, is produced in nature. So during the summer, you know, [0:51:43] you've got a couple of months there where maybe you get apples and they're, [0:51:47] they're good to go. [0:51:48] Um, [0:51:49] but the way that we run things now, [0:51:51] we will ship in apples from like South America and you'll buy it in January. [0:51:57] And our body isn't supposed to be eating that kind of food at that time. [0:52:02] Right. [0:52:03] There's kind of a real rhythm to nature that we are bucking with these [0:52:10] industrialized, mechanized food processes and stuff like that. Jason Craig, this guy that wrote the guy that wrote this book, The Liturgy of the [0:52:29] Land. He is also the founder of a group called Fraternus. And we're going to talk about that [0:52:38] because there is a crisis of fatherhood in our society right now. [0:52:44] There's a crisis of leadership, a crisis of fatherhood, [0:52:48] men that don't even know how to be fathers.
