Episode 168 — The FBI’s War on Traditional Catholics EXPOSED w/Kyle Seraphin

Show notes

Former FBI Special Agent and whistleblower Kyle Seraphin joins The Backlash to expose what really happened when the FBI turned its attention toward traditional Catholics.

Seraphin was responsible for bringing the infamous Richmond Memo to public attention—a 2023 FBI intelligence product that attempted to connect so-called “radical-traditionalist Catholics” with violent extremism. Subsequent investigations have revealed that the Bureau’s actions went far beyond one poorly written memo.

According to the Justice Department’s latest report, FBI agents investigated two Catholic priests, monitored one priest’s travel and communications, relied upon biased and unverified sources, and ultimately found no connection between the priests and criminal activity or violent extremism. We examine the FBI’s surveillance of priests associated with the Society of Saint Pius X, the use of Catholic doctrine as an alleged indicator of extremism, and the conflicting conclusions reached by successive DOJ investigations.

We also turn to North Idaho and the controversial arrest of 31 Patriot Front members in Coeur d’Alene in June 2022. Kyle explains the FBI’s involvement after the arrests, the reported dispute over searching the defendants’ phones, the constitutional questions surrounding the investigation, and the extraordinary evidentiary problems that later emerged in court.

Was the Richmond Memo an isolated failure—or evidence of something much larger inside the FBI? What happened when agents refused to participate in searches they believed lacked probable cause? And has anyone truly been held accountable?
